Ways to Make Your Jewellery Last Longer
- Getting ready in the morning? Ensure your pieces stay tarnish-free by removing them before shower and keeping them away from chemicals present in perfume and deodorant.
- Also steer clear of hairspray and nail polish remover around your pieces.
- Going on holiday? Take off your pieces before going for a dip. Also avoid sun tan lotion and body oils when wearing your jewellery.
- Working out? Removing your jewellery before engaging in any form of physical exercise is the ideal.
- Keep your pieces away from extreme temperatures, humidity or sunlight.
- Be gentle when it comes to cleaning.Use a very soft, microfiber cloth for cleaning the jewelry.
HOW TO STORE YOUR JEWELLERY
- Store your jewellery separately in a jewellery roll, soft pouch or ziplock bags to avoid scratching or tangling.
- Living in a humid environment? Store your jewellery with a small packet of desiccant crystals to help reduce tarnishing.
- Keep your pieces in a dark, cool and dry place.
- Avoid direct sunlight when storing your jewellery as prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause many gemstones to fade and lose their colour. Amethyst, rose quartz, chalcedony and smokey quartz are just some of the gemstones that can become paler from exposure to sunlight.
- Be sure to avoid storing jewellery out in the open, or next to heating vents, windowsills or in the bathroom
